Maritime transport and the supporting sub-services that become the most important stakeholder in world trade. Maritime transport improves market shares in total global transports day after day and also provides an undeniable contribution to employment. The maritime sector has a significant place in the deep-rooted history of our country. Our country has very favorable position in the sense of sea routes applied for the transportation of the majority of the cargoes subject to world trade. Zonguldak province where our university is located, Kdz. Ereğli shipyards region providing substantial technical services to the maritime industry for years and together with the Filyos Port, which has been operating recently, are expected to be the northern gate of our country and Zonguldak is quiet notable city that lives and maintains the maritime culture. Approximately 25 million tons of cargo is transferred annually at the ports located in Zonguldak province together with Filyos Port, this value is expected to reach 50 million tons per year. In accordance with this advantageous location of our university, our most important mission is developing new generations who will fulfill the requirements of the maritime professions and develop projects that will improve our country thanks to the received academic education. Moreover, one of the our most important goals to have a share in the shaping of our country's maritime industry with the research and development projects that will carry out with our academic staff. One of our top priorities to raise generations who understand the maritime transport of the future especially in line with the integration of railways to maritime transport that getting louder with projects to revive the Ancient Silk Road.

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Maritime Faculty increase activities from day to day on the purpose of complete the necessary physical and intellectual background in order to realize this mission, goals and objectives. In this direction, our faculty follows a dynamic education and training process compatible with technological developments in the sector and international education standards and providing scientific perspective, respect for the environment, intellectual accumulation, pluralistic and innovative. In this context, our faculty frequently organizes industry meetings in addition to theoretical courses of 240 ECTS. Moreover, our faculty has a significant competitive advantage over stakeholders with alumni association in order not to break with the past, creating a permanent corporate culture and strengthen the bond of our students in the sector from the moment beginning of university. Our faculty has bilateral agreements provides important gains for our students in the fulfillment of the maritime profession as universal business with universities providing maritime education in three different European countries.
